Welcome and Meet the Host of the Long-Term Strategy Conference 2025
Have you wondered who is behind the conference? You’d like to know more about the people behind the event, but don’t know how. let me introduce myself and the journey that led to this event.
My name is Francis Wade and I am the founder of Framework Consulting, the company behind the conference. We’ve been around since 1993 and have been helping companies create strategic plans since 2001. I’m also the author of the JumpLeap newsletter and podcast, plus a strategy business columnist for a leading Caribbean newspaper. (I live in Jamaica.)
I’m an Ivy League trained engineer (Cornell) and an alumnus of AT&T Bell Labs. While there, I was introduced to systems thinking, scenario planning and vision building by the folks at Peter Senge’s company. (He authored the Fifth Discipline.)
I vowed to use these ideas in my work, but had few opportunities.
In the 1990’s I participated in training developed by Werner Erhard, which spoke to defining inspiring futures. I also was added by McKinsey & Co. as a hired hand for client-facing teams, and internal training. So by the time I came across an HBR article on Strategy Mapping by Robert Kaplan and David Norton in 2001 I was ready.
And inspired by a new way to plan strategy that didn’t seem to be all about filling in boring templates.
In fact, it provided an important missing link needed to communicate complex ideas to employees who weren’t used to strategy. I trialed this tool and others with a few willing clients and a new approach was born.
More than two decades later, my company still facilitates game-changing strategic planning sessions.
But we also know that leaders want more, hence our conference mission:
Feeding hungry creators of game-changing, pre-emptive, long-term strategic plans with insights that make a quick difference.
Join me and the rest of my team in two days intended to really move the needle on our ambitions. My co-host Dale Pilgrim-Wade and I welcome you!
