Prof Geci Karuri-Sebina is Associate Professor of Digital Governance at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. She calls herself a “scholar-practitioner” having worked between academia and public service for almost 3 decades. She is a widely recognised futurist focused on urban development and technological transformations mainly in the global south, and has worked at global, regional, national and municipal levels. Geci is currently the ICESCO (Islamic World Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation) Chair on Innovation and Futures in Africa.
